    Launch of Delen

In response to feedback from our customers we have developed this new online platform to improve collaboration and information sharing. Delen (Dutch for share) will become the primary information hub for anyone wanting to find out about our work on dm+d, ICD-10, ICD-11, OPCS-4, SNOMED CT and related products and services. It hosts a number of tools, including a resource library containing key publications, a searchable database of responses we've provided to customer queries and information about our education and training programmes. We have a number of collaborative projects underway and you will be able to see what's going on and find out how to get involved if you want to help us develop standards or quality assure materials. Between now and the end of March, we will be making many changes and adding content, such as the new section added today for SNOMED CT in Primary Care. We welcome your feedback to help us make Delen work as well as possible to meet your information needs.

    Annual Survey

The Terminology and Classifications annual survey is now live with a closing date of 06-Mar-2017. The survey offers an opportunity for you to provide important feedback on our products and services and, crucially, helps us to identify areas where we need to improve. Survey responses will directly influence the content of our Service Improvement Plan which we will publish, along with a summary of the survey findings, shortly after the closing date. The survey includes our Terminology products and services for the first time and we would very much appreciate your input. You can find the report and service improvement plan for our 2016 survey in our resource library.

Updates to 'Read to SNOMED CT' mapping tables

As the move to SNOMED CT is due in General Practice by 1st April 2018, further quality assurance has been undertaken on the current mapping tables (Read v2 to SNOMED CT and CTV3 to SNOMED CT). This work is being undertaken in collaboration with the Joint GP IT Committee. As a result, there will be a number of interim updates to the tables over the next few months, in addition to their regular update releases in April and October. If you have subscribed to the TRUD distribution site, you will be notified of all these map update releases at the time they are provided. In addition, there is a guidance document available in our Resource Library which details some of the types of mapping undertaken where the resulting description in SNOMED CT varies from the original Read text.

    SNOMED CT Animation

NHS Digital has created a simple animation to illustrate how SNOMED CT can be used in the transmission of an electronic discharge message. It is intended for clinicians and others who have little or no prior exposure to SNOMED CT and is a deliberately simplified demonstration of the information items that would be transferred in coded form from a hospital to a GP. We would be very pleased if you shared this with your colleagues and provided any feedback, good or bad, by emailing our helpdesk.

    NICIP Consultation Progress

We are consulting about the management of the withdrawal of the National Interim Clinical Imaging Procedure Codes (NICIP) and their replacement by SNOMED CT. The feedback from this consultation will help us understand how the NICIP codes have been used in the NHS, which will in turn inform the process of withdrawing the NICIP standard. Withdrawal would take place over a staged period and in a manner that minimises disruption. Please note that the survey has now been extended until the 13th of February 2017.
